A safe place to grow through life's transitions

Life is often difficult, and especially so during transitions. I consider it an honor to walk with those in need of support during these times of change.

About Joy

Change can bring with it growth, accompanied by anxiety, fear, and sadness—and it affects everyone in your circle. While these are normal responses to life events, they can become overwhelming. If you are struggling with life and the changes it sometimes brings, do not hesitate to reach out for support to help you grow through it.

Joy has been in the helping field for more than 30 years in various capacities, working with schools, businesses and churches, as well as inpatient clinics and medical facilities. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and Tennessee, and is a member of the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counseling Association, the American Association for Play Therapy, and the American Association for Christian Counselors.

She earned her degrees at Georgia State University, and holds a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling as well as an Education Specialist Degree with concentration in Adolescent, Child and Family Development.

Treatment Approach

Joy's treatment style includes an eclectic and creative approach, using a balance between psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapies, depending on the current needs of the client.

Her primary interest is a focus on health and wellness by identifying issues which may get in the way of achieving personal goals—including anxiety, depression, emotional pain, grief, and loss.

A Personal Note

Joy has a personal interest in helping people who have been hurt by their church. She has four grown sons, whom she gratefully credits with teaching her much of what she has learned about relationships and life.
